Most toddlers and preschoolers exhibit some ADHD-like signs — becoming easily distracted, talking and moving nonstop — as part of their normal and healthy development. These neurotypical behaviors are difficult to distinguish from the patterns associated with ADHD at such a young age. As a result, many parents take the approach of waiting for behaviors to improve — but waiting too long can cause serious problems for children who do have ADHD.
