BQIS Training Series: Part 1—Home-and Community-Based Services Final Rule 101

The Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services believes that quality indicators must be integrated into systems for the purpose of management, but a true person-centered system measures a service or program by its ability to achieve quality outcomes for the individuals being served. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities should be provided with integrated supports to facilitate individual choice and maximize their full access to the greater community.

The Bureau of Quality Improvement Services is committed to supporting our provider network in working toward a true person-centered system. As part of that commitment, BQIS is partnering with the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services to offer a web-based training opportunity focused on the Home-and Community-Based Settings Final Rule. This is the first in a series of trainings on this topic. The presentation will review the purpose of the HCBS Final Rule and the core components of the rule, including person-centered planning, conflict-free case management, community integration, and home and community-based settings. The presentation will explore the current status of states’ implementation and use of the HCBS Final Rule as an opportunity for systems change.

This opportunity is being provided at no cost to participants. This training is also mandatory for all current Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services providers of home-and community-based services. This means if your organization is a current BDDS service provider of any home-and community-based service, it is required that an executive level staff member of your organization attend this training. Sign-up, participation and completion of this training will be tracked and monitored throughout the training.

All others, including program managers, direct support professionals, case managers, individuals with disabilities and families are welcome to attend.

Advance registration is required to receive a link to the join. We are offering this training at two different times:
