After review of the Child Mental Health Wraparound 1915(i) State Plan Amendment, applicable Indiana Administrative Code, and the CMHW provider module, the Division of Mental Health and Addiction has determined that it is within DMHA’s authority to interpret the existing language as to whether attendance at child and family team meetings can be held in person or virtually.
Attendance and participation in CFTMs continue to be mandatory; however, DMHA will allow attendance and participation to include virtual attendance when requested to do so by the family. Providers are not to initiate this request. The request should be documented in the meeting minutes. The manner of attendance by team members should also be documented in the meeting minutes and/or on the sign-in sheet.
Virtual attendance is defined as attendance through an audio/video meeting platform. Providers are expected to be visible to the team members during the meeting, and to conduct meetings in a HIPAA compliant manner. Families and natural supports without access to an audio/video meeting platform may participate in the meeting via phone.
It is the responsibility of the wraparound facilitator to make meeting arrangements to accommodate the family’s need. Other CMHW providers are expected to comply with the designated platform.
