Inflation Relief

From The Arc of Indiana

"Senate Enrolled Act 2 was signed into law late Friday night by Governor Holcomb. This is the inflation relief bill. The current inflation rate in the US hangs around 9%, meaning most Americans are making less than they did last year with the same wage since the cost of consumer goods has increased.

SEA 2 will be putting more than $1 billion of Indiana's reserves back into taxpayers' pockets via a $200 check. Hoosiers who were not claimed as a dependent or did not file taxes, like those on Social Security or disability benefits, can file an affidavit with the Indiana Department of Revenue to receive the $200 check.

This bill also establishes the Hoosier Family First Fund with $45 million to go toward Department of Child Services, Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Family and Social Services Administration to provide services and supports to mothers and babies. The sales tax on children's diapers has been suspended in this bill along with providing a tax incentive for Hoosiers to adopt children.

The Arc of Indiana will keep you updated on more information that comes out regarding the affidavit that needs to be submitted to receive the inflation relief check if you did not file taxes this year."
