Research Participants Needed

"Are you an East Asian immigrant caregiver of a student with a disability currently enrolled (or within the past 10 years) in special education? If so, want to earn a $25 Amazon gift card? SHARE your experiences as the caregiver of an individual with a disability as part of a George Mason University dissertation. These interviews are for research purposes.

My name is Margaret Gerry, and I am a PhD candidate at George Mason University working on my dissertation. I am studying cultural perceptions of disability and experiences with special education in the United States in an attempt to advocate for special education teacher preparation to consider these contexts.

In these interviews, I will ask about what the word disability means to you as well as your experiences with special education in the United States. These interviews will last between 60-90 minutes.

In order to participate, you must be at least 18 years of age, the legal caregiver of a student with any disability, and have immigrated to the United States from an East Asian country. If you are interested in participating in an interview, click the button below. Interview completers will receive a $25 Amazon gift card via email. Up to 15 participants will be selected.

Contact Margaret Gerry (mgerry@gmu.edu) with any questions. The IRB reference number for this study is 2147072-1."
