Updates to DDRS policies affecting waiver service definitions

Family Voices encourages its members to stay up-to-date on information that may affect their family. We share this notice from DDRS regarding changes to a previous update posted 1/6/12

Recently, changes were made to service definitions in regards to relatives as paid caregivers and billing for Individual Support Team Meeting Attendance within the Developmental Disability Waiver.
Upon further review of two of these changes, the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) has decided to make the following updates:

Residential Habilitation and Supports (RHS) Relatives as Caregivers – The 40-hour-per-week
limit on the combined total delivery of RHS service hours to an adult waiver participant by any
combination of parents, step-parents and/or legal guardians will remain in place. However, a
review process for those seeking a waiver of this rule will be put into place and released later
this week. For anyone granted a waiver of the rule, the 40-hour-per-week limit for each
individual caregiver remains in place.

Billing for Reimbursement for attendance and participation in Individualized Support Team
Meetings Attendance – The restriction on reimbursement has been rescinded and Service
Providers may bill during their attendance at team meetings
