Transition to Adult Life training available FREE online

Did you know Family Voices Indiana has a series of FREE webisodes and webquests on various topics?

Our first webisode provided information on understanding the funding maze. We covered several private and public programs to address your child’s healthcare financing needs: Private insurance, Medicaid, Medicaid disability, Children’s Special Health Care Services and Medicaid waivers, to name a few. Your child might be eligible for one or more of these programs.

Our second webisode provided information on filling the funding gaps: basic needs like food and shelter, specialized assistance like accessible transportation and legal resources, and natural supports and recreational programs to ensure a meaningful day for your child.

Our third webisode provided information about all of the various kinds of Medicaid available in Indiana, services and eligibility, and how to find providers

Our latest webisode and webquest focuses on the transition to adulthood. It covers insurance options and how to transition to an adult health care provider as your child nears the age of 18. It examines how a transition IEP can support youth in learning the skills needed to be in control of special healthcare needs. And, for those adult children who might need additional supports related to decision making, you can learn more about guardianship options.
