INSILC Seeking New Council Members

INSILC Seeking New Council Members with Disabilities to
BE THE VOICE of Independent Living in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Statewide Independent Living Council (INSILC) is seeking leaders with disabilities to #BeTheVoice of Independent Living in Indiana and invites individuals of all disabilities across the state to apply to serve as valued members of its governor-appointed, statewide Council. INSILC is driven by the Independent Living Philosophy which emphasizes people with disabilities have crucial and valuable perspective to contribute to society and should have the same opportunities as individuals without disabilities. We believe disability rights are human rights and we have the right to choose how we want to live, work and play in our communities.

Council Members are appointed by the Governor for three-year terms and candidates selected for appointment to INSILC must have significant knowledge and understanding of independent living/the independent philosophy and a strong interest in advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Individuals selected shall also have a deep commitment to the success of INSILC and the Indiana Centers for Independent Living and be dedicated to ensuring diversity of Council membership.

Individuals with disabilities interested in applying for INSILC membership can access the INSILC Membership Application and other required membership documents online at www.insilc.org/about-insilc. Membership submissions are due no later than July 22, 2018 to the INSILC Executive Director, Amber O’Haver, at aohaver@insilc.org or may be mailed to INSILC at P.O. Box 801 Danville, IN 46122.
