DHS Seeking Input on Public Charge Immigration Policy

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is in the process of developing a new “public charge” immigration rule. The first step is an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM), which is open for a 60-day public comment period through October 22.

As a reminder, the Biden Administration ended the harmful public charge policy enacted by the previous administration. DHS is currently enforcing the longstanding 1999 Field Guidance. Learn more about public charge in this PIF resource.
