DO OVER PROJECT

In 2020 The Do Over Project opened the Living Wellness Respite Retreat to provide temporary relief for primary caregivers of children with mental health diagnoses, affording families the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate while taking a break from the demands of caregiving.  It can be accessed when a family is overwhelmed and needs a break, or when something is hindering their ability to care for the child like fire/parent illness/homelessness.

They are currently funded as part of the CMHW program, so families would need to be in this program to qualify.  They have a house where they can provide hourly care, planned care, or emergency care.  They can take up to 12 kids at time and maintain at least a 1:4 ratio. They can provide 1:1 if needed. They are staffed with experienced mental health techs. Programming is aimed at keeping the kids full of activities to help minimize difficulties for them. They also incorporate some social skills activities. Most areas have cameras to monitor the children and their care. There is a nurse to assist with medications.

They are open Monday morning through Sunday morning. Children can stay for a few hours or for the whole week. They are located on the East side of Indianapolis, but accept children from all 92 counties.

Families can go to the website to find out more and to find intake forms.
