Transgender Protections Under ADA
On August 16, a federal appeals court said that the Americans with Disabilities Act covers individuals with "gender dysphoria." The ruling stems from a 2020 case against the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office after a transgender woman was incarcerated in a men’s facility. The woman, Kesha Williams, argued that her gender dysphoria resulted from a 'physical impairment' and is covered under the ADA. Read more here.
