"THANKS to State Sen. Shelli Yoder who has introduced the Medicaid Buy In Bill, Senate Bill 310
The bill removes barriers to employment and makes it easier for people with disabilities who are working to keep Medicaid for vital services while paying a premium. The bill removes the consideration of income and countable resources in determining Medicaid eligibility in the buy-in program and allows them to simultaneously participate in the Medicaid waiver. This means there is no cliff where people might lose essential services ONLY funded by Medicaid and can save for the things they need in their lives without fear. The potential loss of Medicaid benefits is one of the primary barriers to individuals with disabilities seeking employment, pursuing full-time work and/or career advancements. INAPSE has been working diligently with Senator Yoder and her staff to craft the bill. If this bill passes, it would open up the possibilities for employment for thousands of Hoosiers with disabilities. The bill was recently assigned to the Senate Family and Children Committee.
