CMHW Updates

Pending approval from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Effective July 1, 2023, the Child Mental Health Wraparound (CMHW) State Plan will renew with an amendment.  You can read about all of the changes here, but here are some highlights:

• Crisis respite care will be renamed "unexpected respite"
• Daily respite care limits will increase from 28 days to 40 days per care plan year
• Hourly respite care limits updated: will shift from up to 39 15-minute units per day (9.75 hours/day) to up to 27 15-minute units in a calendar day (6.75 hours/day)
• Inclusion of nonmedical transportation for facility-based respite care (more details found in the bulletin linked above)
