Ramping Up to New Opportunities
From Jake's Desk July 21, 2023 Newsletter
"Did you know that IHCDA has funding for residential wheelchair/accessibility ramps? If you are part of an individual household in need of a wheelchair/accessibility ramp, please encourage your local agencies to apply for this funding!
Ramp Up is IHCDA's program to provide grants to non-profit organizations to install exterior ramps to homes occupied by people in need of improving accessibility in their home. Ramps increase safety, reduce the risk of falling, and maintains a person's independence by allowing them to age-in-place in their home.
We provide technical assistance for the applications, so it's a very collaborative application process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted. Ramp Up is funded with non-federal Development Fund dollars, so there's less red tape once funding is awarded. If your organization is interested in applying, please review the policy on our website, and email Ramp Up Coordinator Holly Lester at hlester@ihcda.in.gov.
Our most common partner organizations include Habitat for Humanity chapters and Area Agencies on Aging, but we are open to all kinds of non-profit organizations and local government agencies. Ideal applicants will have an established organizational mission to serve the housing needs of person with disabilities and/or to rehabilitate homes for low-income homeowners."
