Welcome to the update For members and families The Family and Social Services Administration will provide this regular update to members and their families during this period of transition. Checklist What to watch for If you are transitioning to Structured Family Caregiving or changing your Attendant Care plan to be provided by someone who is not a legally responsible individual, you should be working with your care manager to submit a plan for state review by June 15. If you have not yet heard from or cannot reach your care manager, send an email to medicaid@fssa.in.gov. If you are searching for a Structured Family Caregiving provider, make sure you check out both available lists. The Statewide Provider list includes providers that are offering services in all Indiana counties; the Provider by County list is a county-by-county listing of providers offering services in select counties only. Time: 3-3:30 p.m. EDT Participate live in Microsoft Teams. Your questions answered Frequently Asked Questions Question: Can attendant care staff provide transportation to medical appointments? Answer: The need for transportation only to and from Medicaid appointments is covered under Medicaid state plan, and home and community-based services cannot be used instead. However, if an individual requires hands-on assistance with activities of daily living before, during and after a medical appointment, attendant care staff can provide the transportation. Question: If an individual receives attendant care from a legally responsible individual, does that person have to transition to Structured Family Caregiving in July? Answer: No. An individual can continue to receive attendant care services, but the services cannot be delivered by a person who is a legally responsible individual. Question: Do services stop when a new service plan is under review? Answer: No. Previously approved services continue to be delivered when a new plan is under state review. Previously approved services also continue while a new service plan is being drafted, when additional information is requested, and if a new plan is denied. Waiver transition A&D Waiver will split on July 1 On July 1, the Aged and Disabled Waiver will split into two waivers. These waivers have been approved by CMS. You can read more here. Members 59 and under This waiver is being renamed the Health & Wellness Waiver and is transitioning to the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services. You should continue to work with your care manager for any waiver-related needs. Members over 60 The Indiana PathWays for Aging program begins July 1. All members have been enrolled in a health plan. Managed care entities are beginning to contact members this week. Members may call 87-PathWay-4 (877-284-9294) to change their plan. TBI Waiver to transition on July 1 On July 1, the Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver will transition to the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services.
