Due SEPT 5, 2024: Opportunity for public comment on eliminating barriers to provision of high quality pediatric care

The payment policies in the 2025 Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule are now available for public inspection at https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2024-14828.pdf, and are scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on July 31, 2024. Comments are due by 5 PM on September 9, 2024.
 
Please note: There is a Request for Information (RFI) in the 2025 Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule seeking feedback on opportunities to support clinicians and practices as they adopt hybrid payment that supports longitudinal, population-based care, including barriers, strategies, or support that are needed for pediatric clinicians and practices.

The RFI requests feedback on proposed changes to coding and payment policies for incorporate advanced primary care services into traditional Medicare, and to request feedback more broadly on how CMS can:
 
Further the goals of reducing administrative burden to refocus time on patient care; better recognizing the relative resources involved in furnishing care; recognizing interdisciplinary, team-based primary care; and supporting primary care sustainability and stability (especially for underserved communities).
 
On page 320 of the 2025 Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule as posted for public inspection, the RFI includes the following questions:
 
When considering the evolution of a hybrid payment system within the PFS, we seek input on the following questions:
  • How can CMS better support primary care clinicians and practices who may be new to population-based and longitudinal care management?
  • What are the primary barriers to providing particular strategies or supports needed for pediatric clinicians and practices?
