Applying for Indiana's Energy Assistance Program

From Jake's Desk E-newsletter

The State of Indiana’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP) provides a one-time annual benefit to assist with home energy costs.  These benefits are typically paid directly to the utility vendor, but if your utilities are included in rent, you may still qualify for EAP.

EAP also provides participants the protection of the Winter Utility Shutoff Moratorium so that they don’t see a disruption in service during the designated period. Households that are not eligible for and/or have not applied for EAP may be at risk of being disconnected from from their electric or natural gas service.  Moratorium protection lasts  from December 1until March 15. It cannot restore someone’s power, but it can potentially prevent service from being disconnected.

Applicants can apply online HERE, by mail, in person, or by calling 2-1-1. Contact your Local Service Provider (LSP) with questions, to apply in person or to request a paper application. Click HERE to find your LSP via our interactive map.

The current EAP application period closes April 14, 2025
