The National Federation of Families is looking to hear from families who have had a child or loved one that has had a congregate care stay. What is congregate care? Congregate care refers to group-based, out-of-home placements—such as residential treatment centers, group homes, rehabilitation or psychiatric facilities—providing 24-hour supervision and structured, intensive therapeutic services. These are both short and long term, specialized settings designed to provide treatment for individuals who community-based providers deem are a danger to themselves or others, whose needs exceed available community-based options or who require long-term, intense interventions.
