AG Todd Rokita Withdrawals from Texas V. Kennedy

On Friday, May 1, Attorney General Todd Rokita withdrew Indiana from the Texas v. Kennedy lawsuit that sought to challenge Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Section 504 safeguards against disability discrimination and mandates that states offer services in community-based settings instead of institutional ones. Indiana Family to Family thanks Attorney General Rokita for his decision to withdraw. By stepping away from this lawsuit, Indiana is affirming its commitment to upholding disability rights and fostering supportive environments for all citizens, especially those with disabilities. We hope that this move will encourage further efforts to strengthen community-based services and ensure that every individual receives the support they need in the setting of their choosing.
