Since 2020, enrollment in Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) has more than doubled. Today, over six million individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid are enrolled in these Medicare Advantage plans, and enrollment is expected to continue rising. An increasing number of states are focusing on D-SNPs as a primary vehicle for integrating care and improving coordination of services for their dual eligible populations. Despite this, many advocates haven’t had the opportunity to learn what D-SNPs are, what makes them unique, and how they operate.
This webinar, Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) Basics, will cover key questions: How D-SNPs work, what to consider before enrolling in a D-SNP, and how to navigate issues after enrollment. Advocates will also learn ways to engage with their states to ensure that D-SNPs work effectively to coordinate care and benefits for dual eligibles, including strategies for centering equity from the outset in the design of D-SNPs. This webinar will be most useful to state advocates working with older adults and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid.
After attending this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify D-SNPs available in a person’s area;
- Describe what individuals should consider before enrolling in a D-SNP;
- Analyze potential issues that could arise after enrollment in a D-SNP;
- Identify ways for advocates to engage with their state on the topic of D-SNPs.
